172 cup front shocks

i know this will be a daft question for some but....
what is the difference between the standard mk2 172 and the 172 cup shocks (front and rear)

Cup are a little stiffer I believe but other than that they are the same.

The rears I think cup ones are also gas and a little stiffer, could be wrong though as the ones I just took off my 172 also seemed to be gas, but it could have had cup ones on anyway

thanks for the info, im putting on new shocks all round and the cups are coming up a bit cheaper for some reason. think thats what ill go for tho.

Bolt spacing will different on the front cup shocks though no?

i thought that was only with the 182? think the 172 and 172 cup have the same bolt spacing?

Oh, didn't read properly, thought you were on about 182 shocks, ignore me!

I put CUP front shocks on my standard 172.
Stiffer and fit with no modification

I did. Can't say I noticed much of a difference to be honest.
