172 gear linkage

Has anyone had any problems with the linkage that joins gear lever to the gear box. my gear lever is flopping about and the car is stuck in gear. any clue on repair cost. is it worth getting it towed to renault or just take it to any garage.

never had any broken linkages before.jack up the car and have a look,most of the linkage is easily visible underneath.check all linkage bolts are tight(espescially the pinch bolt adjustment part).there is a bolt behind the linkage gaitor on the gearbox as well.you may need to remove an exhaust heat sheid to see the underside of the gearstick.
