172 TDC sensor location

Hi guys, can anyone help direct me to the location of the TDC sensor ? I have been told it could be the reason my 02 reg 172 often fails to start (The battery is apprantley in good nick) Thanks in advance.

Under the thermostat housing, on the gearbox bellhousing.
Thanks I'll try an spot that, im totally non mechnical tho.

does it wind over and not fire sometimes?
I can hear the starter motor trying like crazy, an it can take a good 10 secs then she bursts into life (With really high idle RPM can be like 1.5K for 10 secs) Or other times she starts first time no problem, other times it takes 4 attempts.

Xmas eve I was bombing around all over the place getting last minuite presents all was well until I filled her up with £40 of BP ultimate then I was sat at the pump for a good 3 mins getting her started, once I got going I went right home with no more stops! So I sober over xmas cos of it  hehe.

yeah mine does it sometimes, not to that extent though, it can go months before it happens again. Been told its likely to be the TDC sensor

Been there! One cold sunday afternoon, the car actually let me down after being intermittently difficult to start for weeks. Got my tools out and got to the TDC sensor, gave the sensor and connectors a clean and its been perfect since. Engine seems to run better at idle too.
