182 self levelling xenon question.

  RB clio 182
I havent really noticed my lights "self adjust" at all since ive had the car.

Should I be noticing them adjust when going down dips/up hills etc...? Do they do that ?

Or is it only when there is weight in the back.? They dont adjust at start up, they just turn on.

Oh and they seem a bit low sometimes.

Can anyone help or shed some light ?!?!? :S

So they dont go through a sequence of up and down each time you start the car ??

I can honestly say ive never seen the lights move !

No they don't (unless you have some weight in the rear of the car - Passengers/ Bags of sand/ etc.).

I was surprised by this too because on the Range the lights move about LOADS.

On the Clio, there doesn't appear to be a feedback loop that tells the controller [ECU/ UCH?] where the motors are in their range of movement. Over time, this lack of awareness about the adjusters can mean that the motors pop their spindles out and effectively make the lights not adjust...

I was so concerned that mine were faulty, that I replaced my rear beam sensor and adjuster motors. Overkill, in my case, just check the adjusters and the poorly-designed arm on the sensor (look at the rear beam, under the passenger side!).

Thanks for that. I guess its just becuase I never have any weight in the back !! Out of interest, how much does a new sensor cost ?

Are you sure the sensor is knackered? The arm is very flimsy but should still be functioning if it's intact? I covered the joints of mine in silicone grease to hopefully provide some protection against the elements.

Re: Cost - I've bought so much for it recently that I forget. Try speaking to Colin (West's Renault in the Trader's Section on here)
