182 Standard Autochanger

  RenaultSport Clio 182
Hi,

Has anyone fitted a standard autochanger to their clio? I understand that if fitted as a factory option it was positioned under the passenger seat. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of fitting one and if so, where the wires are, and methods to secure etc?

Thanks in advance!!

i got a reno one off ebay, fitted it in the boot really easy to do , i used the standard headunit (with tuner list on it) there was a blue block at the back of it which it just plugged str8 in and fed the wire underneath the side trim by the seat from the boot to took me less than 15 mins

I think it depends on what headunit you have . The newer 182's have the cabasse update list headunit and as far as i know they have a different lead and connection on the back of the unit from the older tuner list head units . I've heard the leads are £85 from Renault , thats if they will sell em separately , when i phoned 2 dealers they wouldn't , they would only sell the lead and autochanger together and they wanted around £300

This is incorrect, i have fitted a cd changer to the cabasse without tuner list and the connection is the same!! all works fine :rasp:

  Bye Bye 182....
^^Same here. I got my renault Alpine one off Ebay and fitted it in the boot. Its really straightforward. I put the blue block in the back next to the yellow block (rsteering wheel controls) and the fed the cable underneath the side trim by the passenger seat and into the boot. About twenty min job max.

I didn't say it was definite , just what somebody on here once said , that the connection on the cabasse ( update ) was different than the older tuner list .

^^^^ Cheers mate . Appreciate the info , might have a look for one myself :)

I have, £25 for the changer, £35 for a long lead. Bargain. Very easy to fit. Pop the head unit out using radio removal keys (or a homemade version). I've got mine under drivers seat for easier access. I took the foot rest plate off (next to clutch) and undone small plastic carpet fastner at the front right (by accelorator) I then fed the cable (blue end first) under the carpet from under drivers seat and out by the clutch. Then fed it round the back of the dash into where the head unit recess is. Plugged into head unit, plugged larger end into CD Changer, gave it a quick test and then pushed the head unit back into place. Velcro is good for keeping it in place under the seat on the carpet although I've still not got round to this so it's loose but absoloutley fine.

20 min job max.

^^^^ So there are 2 leads ? The one with the blue block 8 pins , is that for the steering wheel controls ? And i would need another lead to connect to the changer ??

  Monaco Blue Mk2
No mate just one, Blue (mini iso) from head unit, behind dash and out by clutch, under carpet, back out under seat and 9 pin black block into changer

^^^^ Cheers . Ive seen a changer on ebay , the guy says the lead is only 25cm , obviously not long enough to run under the seat . Any idea where to get a cheap lead ?

  Monaco Blue Mk2
I got mine off ebay mate....25cm lead....is he having a laugh!? That would not reach anywhere, seriously it wouldn't even come out from behind the dash. Even 25 inches wouldn't be enough. Sure he doesn't mean 2.5m?

^^^^ Thats what i thought . Just seems the lead are very hard to come by . I'll keep my eye out on on ebay .

^^^^ Is that 9 pins ? I thought the update list had a blue 8 pin connection ?

  Monaco Blue Mk2
Oh sorry mate, wasn't thinking, you and your update list! :rasp: . 9 pin is the black connector that goes into the changer. The mini iso connection (blue bit) is the bit that goes into the head unit. I'm not too sure if this is different on the update list. I've heard people that have had them work fine with the update and that lead though. May be worth asking Renault. Also, give that seller an e-mail and tell him what is you are after and if that item will fit.

^^^^ Cheers for that . I did ring 2 Renault dealers a while back ,they wouldn't sell the lead separate and wanted £315 for the changer and lead :(

I'll e mail the seller and see what he says .
