182 struggling to rave after 6k rpm

Hi all, my 182 will rev to 6k fine but after that it almost as if it's ran out of go, my old 182 used to pull harder after 5k timing belt dephaser have been done last month by a specialist thinking maybe a lack of fueling? Thanks in advance

I have a janspeed super sports atm, (has a slight blow) but I've got a PMS full system going on tomorrow

friend's 172 is just like that, struggles to rev past 6k, car has a 1.6 or 1.2 clio exhaust from the manifold to the backbox, mechanic told him car can't get the gasses out fast enough.
when it was on lift it was obvious it's too small compared to the oem exhaust the mechanic showed us.

I gave it a thrash tonight it pulls to 6k then slowly gets to 6.5k then pulls a bit more to 7k? I've got a pure motorsport racing system on tomorrow so will report back if it cures it I was thinking a clogged fuel filter but reading up on it they're In the pump the car had been sat for 18 months before I bought it could it possibly be the pump?

so the new exhaust is on, car seems a lot more eager to rev and its not 100% gone but its a lot better
