195 or 205

I am starting to look for a full set of tyres for my 182, but the price difference between 195 and 205 tyres is staggering.

Would there really bea noticeable difference in performance if I went for 195 tyres?

Thanks in advance

I read somewhere on here that if you're a racing driver who's is chasing lap times then 205s might help you to shave tenths of a second.

If not then it wouldn't matter.

I followed this comment myself and went for 195s for the cheaper tyre price..

Just remember that the 195 rubber will reduce your rolling radius and marginally effect your speedo reading by about 2%

It can be changed via CLIP if you're really bothered.

I found 205's slightly more forgiving over rough tarmac due to the larger side wall. Very marginal but.

195's are what was speced on 172's anyway.

Yep I've just refreshed all four corners on mine with 195/45's but I still had to check with Danny's clio trivia.

If the car had 205's from factory though just bare in mind the electronics are configured for this size not 195's

The phase 2 172 is 195/45/16 chap not 195/50/16. The ph1 runs a 15" wheel

I have standard rims on my ph 2 172 atm which are 195/45/16 but am putting on some td pro race 3s so should i go with a 45 or a 50 profile? I will be keeping to 195 though.
