197 - what are the options?

Hi all,

I'm currently looking at 197's and am starting to draw up a list of what I'm after.

The question I have is, what come standard and what is an option. I need this so I know that car may have something even if it is not in the description i.e. I understand all of them are keyless entry push buttong starts, however some describe them as having central locking which can throw me off.

keyless entry is keycard which also has central locking buttons to lock/unlock the the car, you can walk upto the car and it will unlock it self. also the cup is a normal key.

Auto lights and auto wipers
Climate control
Fixed cornering lights
Extra tinted windows and tail gate
4x40W 6CD autochanger in the dash
Bluetooth hands free system

all have keyless entry unless its an "Original" cup car ie not a FF car with cup pack

main options were

xenons

cornering lights
Heated folding mirrors
Aircon
Climate control
Cup pack (red brembo calipers/stiffer,lower setup/anthercite alloys)
3 stereo options i believe (cabasse/mp3/standard)
bluetooth handsfree
Tunepoint ipod connection
Leather was an option
Recaros

R27 was a special edition and arguably the most saught after 197 model.
Each had a limited edition plaque, cup chassis, recaros and accompanying graphics.

There were options on that which were xenons, cornering lights, climate control, electric mirrors, auto lights/ wipers etc

R27 fetches a premium over the cup, standard and cup packed 197s, which is why I bought one :approve:

I would suggest paying the £10 membership for here to get access to the classifieds---

Theres a black R27 for sale thats priced low -- needs a bit of work,but at the end of it you will have a very good car on the 'cheaper' end of the scale-

You also have access to all the traders who specialise in these cars-

I was looking for an R27 2 yrs ago, needed to be mint.
I viewed many & none were.
A dealer offered me a fully spec'd 197Cup that it's lady owner could not get on with.
Went to view, GW 197 Cup with black speedlines, air con, recaro's etc etc thought i'd hate it.
But on viewing & condition (1400m from new) a deal was struck.
Later that yr i sold it for lets say lots more than i paid for it.
View as many as possible & don't buy the first one

Hvaing viewed Nashy's car I was set to bite his hand offf and have it away. However, my gf doesn't like the Recaros and as it's going to be both of ours I can't swing it.

I've tried but it's non negotiable

Shame really as that's a stunning example. I'm surprsied it hasn't been snapped up already. Sorry Nash mate, I'll keep working on her and if I can get her to change her mine I'll drop you a PM.

Buy Nashy's car then swap the seats over with somebody who has standard seats. That way you'll get about £800 + the seats you want. That then reduces the price of the car down to £7700ish which is very, very cheap.

Sounds like a plan, I'll see what she has to say about it. To be honest I'd sell the seats off cheap to get a pair of immaculate normal ones. Shouldn't be too hard I'm guessing as the majority like them surely?

what a mare, i got moaned it off my missus for getting them as her previous clio didnt have them and she uses the R27. Honestly after a few drives you'll be glad you did get them!!

Google maps does however put Nashy at a 10 hour round trip. I don't mind travelling but there are some good examples a lot closer to home.

On a more positive note, my little clio is in for body work today so I'm a step closer to selling it, which is a step closer to the 197.
