Collected my 172 today and I've noticed that when holding in the clutch and selecting 1st gear I can hear and feel a clunk. It's not very loud but definately noticeable and happens 8 out of 10 times. Any idea what may be causing this. Other gears seem to be ok.
I dunno mate. It happens on my 172 also. I've heard other people say it happens on theirs. It happened when I first took it for a test-drive, I asked what it was and the salesman pretended he didn't hear me. I should've asked again. ...guess I was too excited.
Thanks for the reply Gaz, I'd managed to find a thread relating to the very same noise. Glad it's nothing to worry about. Next I've to try discover the source of a metallic 'ting' noise I can hear from within the dash when driving over rough surfaces.
