2 Drivers + 1 car + 1 insurance cover....can it = both drivers fully comprehensive

Basically me and the g/f are thinking about selling our cars and getting just the one car (well until I can save a bit and get something better just for me), so she will own the car but I want to know if it's possible to both get insured on it Fully Comp as I don't want one of us driving it just Third Party...anybody know if insurance companies do this?

If you go as the main driver and your GF as a named driver on a full comp policy then you will both be covered full comp.

Only one of you will build up no claims, with the exception of direct line who i think offer NCB to named drivers

You can only have 1 insurance policy on the car, and one of you would be a named driver. If it's a fully comp policy, then both of you will be fully comp.

Oh right didn't realise that if the policy holder was already fully comp that the named driver would be fully comp driving the car as well. I always thought the named driver on the policy was only Third Party which meant your car was at risk with them as it wouldn't get repaired in an accident......

So there is no way of both earning NCB on one policy together like you would if you had seperate policies? If so that's stupid as 1 driver loses out when they come to own their own policy as they may have driven for 5 years but technically won't have 5yrs NCB!!

With the 2 year period bit....to stop this happening could we alternate each year of insurance between us i.e. 1st year me, 2nd year her, 3rd me etc etc and each yeah the one that's the policy holder get's that year's ncb....hope that makes sense...

yes you could alternate who is the main driver, so over a 4 year period you will both get 2 years NCB each

Yeah I know people who do this, one year it's the male as main driver and the next it's the female meaning you both keep your NCB.
