2013 Fiesta ST vs Clio 200 Cup comparison

Fiesta ST is a bit of a bargain I think. Their popularity has meant they can be had for very good money. I'd definitely consider one. Would have to be an ST-3 for me though. If it's a daily, I'd want maximum equipment.

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Try to look for a late 2015 onwards as from September 2015 they had the same suspension upgrades as the ST 200 .

Brilliant cars. If I had the cash it's where my money would go for a hot hatch.

@MarkCup loved his

A-f***ing-men I did. I went into it direct from a 2009 Clio 200 and it was the far more capable road car. The Clio had the better throttle response, and ultimately on a track where low down torque matters mostly not one bit, was a little more rewarding.

Given that my annual mileage is 99% on the road that makes the on track advantage of the Clio more than a bit moot.

It still pains me now that I had to let the ST go! It's my first choice for another daily once piling the miles on RS becomes to painful to bear and I have a mate with a nice standard one he puts no more than 2k miles per annum on. In a few years I want that.

@mr bognor it would be nice to see it mate could you pop a few on this thread ? :)

@RDH to be honest a crashy ride doesn't bother me my daily has coilovers and that's super bouncy lol
They are dropping but I think they were only starting price of £16k and they are around £10-13k at the minute

Obviously depends which spec mate. Mine was an ST3 which at the time had a list price of £22k (if my memory serves correctly, it was certainly over 20 anyway).

You can get a brand new ST3 for about 17 now as the new one isn't far off.

Yes very true, were the ST1s around the £16k mark I know the well speced ones were over £20k yes. I would imagine they want to get rid of stock before the new one comes out

I did look at these but again it's hard to find a low mileage one that's within budget and I don't like black cars the swirls would drive me up the wall lol

It can be difficult to find one in the right spec/condition.

Did I miss it, what sort of budget are you thinking?

Surely not as the options list is small and most were st2s and latter st3s. Not really much to choose.

Clips and meganes are like needle and haystack stuff for the right spec.

You can pick up prereg ST3 at around £16300 absolute bargain and with a bit of tuning and a diff will be a very good car.

My bad, perhaps wasn't very clear. As you say, seems pretty easy to find plenty of ST-2 and ST-3s to choose from.

I was referring to the Meganes. Took me bloody ages to find one with the right bits.

IMO you need an st-2 with touch open, or and ST-3. I used to use my TomTom as the sat nav was so bad.

The budgets around £10k ish so I can get an ST2 for that or a nice low mileage 200 cup (when they come up)

Then in April this year I went up to Collins to have there CP4X pack fitted that was X-47 hybrid turbo , Airtec intercooler , CP4 remap .

Info below .

Featuring the awesome X-47 turbocharger, along with our own design uprated actuator, we have seen impressive results! Even during the early stages we have seen over 320bhp at a low 1.5bar.

We intend to run this turbo at a safe level, with all factory Ford safety measures intact, to maintain absolute drivability and reliability, with torque capped at 290lbft to maintain longevity of the transmission and to produce a very linear and smooth power delivery.

We believe this is a much better package all round compared to our previous CP4 package, as it is more drivable than the larger turbo we previously used .

Can you retrofit cruise control to the ST2's? (i know its only the ST3's, but they are more £££'s).
As daft as it sounds, part of the reason i havent looked at them is because of that!
Now they are down to £8k or so, they become rather tempting ...

Yes you can. I'm not aware of the intricacies or pitfalls in doing so. I'd imagine sourcing the wheel hardware wouldn't be cheap though!

I'd probably just stump up the extra for an ST-3 myself. Prices are only going one way. With so many around, a bit of haggling would see you in one quite cheaply I imagine.

Oh I spent ages doing that too lol. You should get a reasonable mileage 250 for your budget. Worth keeping an eye on forums and the like. It's definitely something I would consider if I was in your position. They have a bit more equipment than the Clio as standard I would think, so would be a bit "nicer" as an every day car.

It would be between that and the Fiesta for me I think. I love a Clio 200, but the stories about them put me off as a daily. A friend has just bought a 197, so going to borrow it and find out!

What sort of cost would it take to get to that power? As in bare minimum. You've changed spec a little along the way, so interesting to know how much it would cost. Does the clutch take the power ok? How is it without a diff?

For the CP4X and the exhaust this was £ 2500 all in .

For a CP2 + ITG induction £ 400 for 230 BHP and 250 LB/FT

Clutch is an AP one from the factory on all Fiesta ST so good for 350 LB/FT +

Car puts the power down well but a diff would make things better and this will be my last mod for the car .

They are so (relatively) cheap to get silly power out of.

Other thing is they're pretty light which obviously helps the PWR along nicely. I'd have one. In fact, I may have one :D

It's not even the revving it to get it to move, I find that they're constantly wanting to be driven like you stole it. Driving them 'slow' is a right chore.

If you're coming to csf next month I'm sure there'll be a few owners willing to take you out so you can see how they behave on track.

Agree, that's what used to annoy me about my 197 it's was too frustrating to drive 95% of the time

They're very light for a modern car, was starting to think manufacturers didnt know how to make a car south of 1300 kg anymore

I don't know about anywhere else, but the Fiesta STs get stolen for fun around here. Have to get a proper disklok.
True. A friend of mine got his taken from the drive and although recovered, the Police said that seven ST's had been taken in the area over a night or two.

Seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery as to whether the car goes walkies or remains in your possession.

I really like these, I'm contemplating going for one in a few months time. I test drove one years ago before going for another DC5, it had the Mountune MP215 kit and it felt great, the gear change was mechanical and felt very nice. Just a concern that most will have had a hammering, you can get a nice reasonably low mileage ST-2 for 10k.

Ideally I'd prefer an i30n performance but they're double the price of the ST so I may just go for the Fiesta.
