Went down to this last Sunday, so thought I would share a couple of pictures and videos. For those who don't know, legislation was passed a couple of years back to allow public roads to be closed for sporting events, without the need for an act of parliament. This means that local authorities can close roads much more easily and that means that we can now hold stage rallies on closed public roads, just like our friends in Ireland, the Isle of Man and the rest of Europe get to enjoy. This event first ran in 2018 and was the first to take advantage of the new legislation.
It's based in the Tendring district of Essex, with the service park taking over a portion of the sea front in Clacton. The stages themselves took place on the roads in the area, with the organisers arranging for three main spectator areas. The rally attracted a great entry, with around 120 cars taking to the start. Last year, the weather was fantastic, but we weren't so lucky this year. There were a few showers which no doubt made tyre selection a bit of a challenge!
I couldn't be bothered with my SLR and taking fancy pictures, but here are some phone snaps from the service park/regroup area in Clacton:
