3 coats of primer later :S

im priming my wheels ready for paint.. after 3 coats im still getting the lines where its been sanded also getting a lot of high spots.. ive never had this before so i was wondering whether to apply another coat of primer but probably high build... but shall i sand the high points before or after i apply this last coat of high build primer ??

your help is appreciated

if you meen your still seeing scratches, try rubbing the scrathces down with a finer grit. or get some 2pack primer, that should also work mate

id take all the primer off, and rub down the scratched with a finer grit mate, if the highbuild primer doesnt work, your going to be wasting money mate

It is going to be a lot easy to start again mate.

Nitro-mors the primer back off and sand with a finer grade of wet/dry about 1000 grade.

Then slower build up the primer coats rubbing down in between with a 1200 grade wet/dry. Should need about 3 coats of primer.

Final sand with a 1500 grade w/d paper before applying colour coat and lacquer.

Apply the primer in thinner layers mate, your putting it on to thick and not giving it time to dry.

30 mins lol thats why im confused... im gonna whack a bit of high build on i got some in the garage anyway then sand it down tonite so il post up whether it works or not lol fingers crossed !!!

Use a bit if thinners to remove it all, apply a very very light haze of primer, leave it to dry for 10 mins, then apply a slightly thicker coat, do the same again and keep builing up in very light coats untill you've covered the repair/wheel

At the moment, your primer is reacting and cracking due to too thick coats and not enough drying time.

Also, if you're priming bare metal with normal primer, its not going to stick and will peel. Use etch primer. One light, light haze, 15 mins to dry, then your normal primer on top.

after the disaster of earlier i left it for a while to eat and regain my calm lol and applyed some filler... sanding that down getting it as smooth as possible.. still not happy but a millions times better than this morning.. so tomoro morning il sand and then one more coat leave that to dry and probably paint in the evening.

True. I didn't read that only part of the wheel was like this. Out of curiosity, what colour is the whels going? If it's black, I wouldn't worry too much about minor imperfections. It's silver that will show up everything.
