Really? I've always been a fan of those wheels, think they look great on an E46.

Does you mean the wheels look like they've been in accident and so are dangerous or just in need of a very good refurb?

good refurb but they are split rims so get ready for about 100 per wheel (i was quoted that for some split rims )

they look better on 5 series but im just in general not a fan of those or alpina wheels either

lol ok but wheels aside, what do you think of the car at that price? even with standard wheels.

It between that or a mk4 Golf GTi 1.8T. Very unsure which to go for.

A BMW is always going to be a better drive than a VW... Do VW even make RWD cars.. (Excluding the Nardo I can't think of 1).

Looks nice enough, wheels are nice imo.

Main thing that concerns me is moving from a 75bhp FWD car that understeers (unless lift off oversteer) to a 190bhp RWD that are known to be tail happy. Obviously I wouldn't be throwing it into corners in the same way.

Will the BM it still outgrip a GTi without going near the limits?

The coupe's arent that tail happy mate. You soon learn to make sure your straight and true before really flooring it or ready to catch it if you nail it on a roundabout.

As for the car i personally like it and those wheels are worth 400-500 quid easy.

Great cars these, 6cyl sounds lovely and if looked after will go on, downside looking abit dated esp the interior layout also you get loads of gansta wannabe's driving them.

  porsche 944 - 80's ftw!
Good cars the e36's, ive had 2 evo saloons, 2 coupes (just got another one, a 328i coupe in calypso red) and a 325 tds touring.

Are starting to look old now but a nice clean one still looks good.

And those wheels one the one you looking at, if they are genuine are worth a lot.

Even if you got that car and didnt like the wheels you would sell them straight away on ebay.

I agree the inside is not the most exciting place to be but it could be a lot worse. But the outside I think it perfect. A e36 coupe with M kit was one of my favourite cars when I was a kid and I've always wanted one, to me they're beautful! I don't think I'm big enough to look gansta lol but I'd def be careful where I park it. If I bought a coupe with those wheels I def would not be selling them, I really love those wheels, have done for years.

Brooky, I've heard too many stories of people spinning coupes especially, and most of them have been v.good drivers too and not boy racers etc so I would be very cautious with it until I knew it inside out.

But its just common sense mate but having wider rears helps( Like on mine)

As for spending £2.5k what else are you going to get than is as realible that you like more. If you turn up with cash im guessing you could get that for 2.2k

its like any rwd car, just take care with it, dont take the piss or push it to the limits not knowing the charritics of a rwd car then you should be ok.

Yeah definitely would have wider rears. For £2.5k there is nothing out there tbh. The GTi would cost me £3-3.5k min, plus cost of either colour coding or anni kit, 17s, lowering and remap. All of which will bring my insurance to the same as a 328iS. And a lot more cost. The BM is spot on as standard for me so I wouldn't mod it at all. Only thing is wondering how much more is going to be to run. I defo wouldn't be going to BMW for something that old and relatively inexpensive and I know a few garages that do well with BMs. Its parts that concern me most. How have BM been for you?

Yep, would take extra care with a BM. The golf would prob get a lot of ragging lol

I'd be wary of that, seems a bit cheap and shabby and the mileage seems low for the wear and year. What's going on with the rear bumper too.
This looks like a more genuine example at about the right price.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/382602.htm

I prob wont get that exact one, I'd want full history and a BMW receipt for getting the engine seals sorted. I thought the bumper looked a bit different too but think it might just be the pic. That BM on pistonheads is very nice but I would pay that much for a '96 with 100k. The one in my 1st post wasn't the cheapest I saw. A lot under £2k but obvs I would pay extra if its in good condition, spec'd and full history. £2k more sounds a lot tho.

lol yh i can. I'm 21 and fingers crossed I get my 3rd NBC, i got quoted £932 for 328iS, fully comp with £300 excess. GTi was £659 but once remapped would be around the £900. For reference, i got quoted £354 for my Clio RT.

They were all through elephant mate. Tbh they were just guides, as I did a lot for lots of different cars to see what was in reach. Will be shopping around for insurance within the next couple weeks so will try them quotes again on other sights. Of lately, elephant have been the best for me.

Am I right in thinking no more CS member discount at Greenlight?
