Well, I am not a big fan of Bretts choice of colour either, but Im not saying it looks bad...

After all, you should have the car how you want it and not just to please everyone else. because all people are different and we all like different things. Like Jamies purple one is not for me either, but the blue he had before was superb in my opinion.

Now your Nova is one I have always liked Nick and if I were to own another one, Id be going down the same lines that you have.

Once you get the TBs, manifold and uprated clutch in there then it will eat plenty of cars for breakfast! :D

clio-anorak - those look like sri astra rims, and they look well smart!

Does look very nice, but Id just like to point out that youve paid for: a valver engine, leather trim, smart alloys, bonnet vent and foglights... all these were standard on my valver!;) No offence like! Bet it goes like stink, I would like a fast Nova but theres so many buckets of sh*t out there!

fair comment!!

I have had this car from 1 year old (G Plate 1990) so ive had it from May 1991 so the car is nearly 13 years old and ive spent money on it over this period.

Ive thought about changing on a number of occasions, either to a Civic Type R of Clio 172/Cup. But i owe nothing on this motor and what ever i spend on this car its been saved up! and to be honest there aint that many motors that would keep up with this striaght out the showroom! so thats why im keeping it and spending more money on it! :D

Like Nick says, hes had this car for a long time (like Brett who has the one above) and just gradually worked on it over the years...

It is also very quick and will be even quicker once the new stuff goes on there and its all setup properly.

Much more power than a 172 and weighs a lot less than a Cup, so you can imagine how quick this thing is.

Not bad for an old Nova! ;)

too right, its not all about the money. The car is yours and no-one can take that from you, more power to you.

Like I say, the car looks mint and I would love a FAF nova. If youre ever round my way then take us for a spin!

thing is, the 2ltr XE motor is a stonker.....and if i was choosing any motor to put in a car, it would be the vaux, power potential is unbelivable and cost of so reasonable........

Better than almost any 2ltr 16V out there.......with Tbs alone he will be running a min of 190bhp!!!

seen a mk2 escort with a vaux 2ltr 16v engine, the only thing beating it was a N/A cossie Mk2 escort - pushing about 240bhp.

Fappin quick!

the XE in NA form is actually better than the YB design cossie........

possibly because they designed both! lol

but still, wouldnt dare put a vaux engine into a ford! spesh a classic.......shame...

Thats why its used in so many kit cars!

As standard they kick out 156bhp and this was years ago...

Problem is now that there are so many Novas with +200bhp and they weight f*ck all, so power-to-weight ratio is awesome. A GTE only weighs 860kg as standard, so a nice lightweight base to work from. Even with the heavier 2.0 litre 16v lump fitted, they are still a light car.
