360 Elite - HD question

Just picked up a new HD ready TV, just wondering if all I need to do is plug my elite console in and that's that or do I need a special adaptor of some sort?

Yeah, you should have got one with your elite I think I'm sure one came with mine :S

Just checked the box, didn't get one with mine! Ordered the one abouve though so hopefully it should be here tomorrow, cheers for the help!

The latest Elites aren't coming with the HDMI cable anymore, I got one with mine but I've actually ordered a VGA cable as I find the picture much better with one rather than the HDMI.

sorry to drag up the thread .. trying to connect the old mans 360 for hd too. hes got an hdmi lead etc. the bulky thing at the back, with the settings for tv and hdtv, does that come out in place of an hdmi lead ? i know it should be simple, but it's been a complete ball ache. cheers for any help.

You mean the connector (from Xbox to TV) that you get in the box? If so, then yes you take that out and replace it with the HD lead.

that's what i thought ... although theres no picture using just the hdmi lead. i've changed the settings on the console to 1080i too. it's an hd ready tv as well.

Wha?? No.

The connector with TV/HDTV is a Component AV cable. IF your XBox has an HDMI port, then it'll be separate.

That was assuming he had a HDMI post like mine... as you can see I've only just bought one myself :rasp:

yea it's right next to it. the AV cable takes up a bit of room, so it's a bit of a struggle trying to connect the hdmi at the same time. forgive the noobness

switched the AV cable to 'hdtv' and the settings to 1080i. the picture quality seems better, although i don't have any colour, just black and white. anyone any ideas ?

if its an older console it has no hmi port.... by the sounds of it your using component and have connected the YPbPr cables the wrong way round.
