45,000km Service

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

Took my car in yesterday for its 45,000km service as well as to get the speedo unit replaced (last time they just reconnected it to the gearbox)

Dropped my car off at 8am, stated the extras I wanted sorted out on the car, and got a lift home by one of the salesmen.

I got a phonecall at 12 to say that they aer still busy with the service and need to get my permission for a few things, firstly the wiper blades needed replacing, so I gave them the go ahead, next he wants to know where my service book is because he needs the delivery date of the car so he can send off to Renault to authorise the warrenty work on the speedo.

All in all a good service I think and all for a whopping 62 pounds

Alrighty, to my car in for its 27962.468153855713664326104517492 mile service

We dont have pounds over here I just did a quick conversion from Rand (banana leaves) to Pounds. The only pounds I have are the 40 pounds which I bought from my girlfriend over the weekend

Can of coke here costs about R4.50 on average which is about 38pence.

a 500ml bottle on the other hand only costs R5 which is about 43pence.

If you do come get some coke youre welcome to stay at my place for a bit before you leave for home. Chloe can share a garage with my little 172

aww cheers dude

wow banna leaves cool, how do you decifer between a higher value one than a smaller value one! lol.

i may come over there as i wanna see what the surf is like and i miss my windsurfing, heard the waves arelike awesome too.

your coke is too cheap may have to come over and get a can.

sulk.

chloe is very fussy tho shes got the arse still as im considering getting another car still so she can be put away for the winter!

If you like windsurfing I can suggest no better place than here. Weve got quite a few sites from Richards Bay in Kwa-Zulu Natal to Sahldana Bay in the Western Cape.

when it comes to banana leaves its easy, the riper the leaf, the more its worth (cos you have to wait to get them ripe)

lol

i want to go to the foreign exchange and get some leaves!!!

woah tho you have some funny names for your places dude,

why not just call them fistral its easier and i can relate to them then.

ps fistral is a beach over here that occasionally has some good waves! LOL

R721 to be precise...Think im still using fridays forex rate.

Hey Danie,

I get my car serviced at Constantia Kloof Motors (who just happen to be a Renault dealership)

I tried Bryanston but they are a bunch of stuck up snobs

Sandton are friendly, but havent been there since I bought my first clio (the 1.4 16V)

Randburg were a real bunch of t**sers who do things like forget to service the car.

Since Ive had the 172 Ive used CKM firstly because they bought the 1.4 off me for a few thousand above what I was expecting to get, and theyve been nothing but helpful everytime Ive been to see them.

Even got a free box of kleenex for the car this time round.

If I buy another renault Ill definately use them again.

nosh...you have no idea how funny some of our names sound, those ones are pretty tame

I also use CKM. I bought my 172 from them and they gave me a good trade-in on my 1.6 Dynamique. R4000 above trade.

I used to be at Northcliff, but switched after I bought my 172. CKM is better.

Where do you live? I live in Wilgeheuwel close to the ball and bucket.

nosh...Try getting your head aroung places called "Polokwane" "Tzaneen".....

I went to Westbank on Sunday and did a 16.4 @ 135kmh. We should both go some time, lots of fun. I would like to run on my 15" and see if it makes any difference, oooh and when it is a bit cooler. 16.30 when I did my run it was 31degrees. Next time I do my runs later when it cooled down a bit.

There was a black mk2 and a silver mk1 that also raced. The black one did a 15.9 @ 139kmh and the silver one did a 16.4 @ 141kmh.

Im in Weltevreden Park.

16.4 from 16.9 is a good improvement.

Hopefully then I can go from 16.6 to 16.1 at least.

I just think more practice is needed. Ill let you know once the AP22 arrives, and we can go do some timed runs

hmm...just had my 45000km done about 2 weeks ago. Went down as quoted R550 (46 squids).......although they said Ive got to go back to have my brakes checked, they want R755 for new pads fitted !!

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

True...Very very true.

How quickly are you guys going through your pads?

My front pads were replaced 10,000km ago and theyre already 60% worn

AP22 should be lekker fun. Then one can at least get a better idea of what the car can do.How much did that set you back in rands? How did you join the cliosport club? Paypal does not support SA.

I am still having trouble getting the power down. Maybe I should try the tire warm up spin thing and see what that does, it seemed to work for the other two Clios.

16.1 is possible. Just wish we had 98RON. That would make it much easier.

I am also thinking of having the decat done, and maybe getting a Group N ECU with induction kit. Maybe a nice zorst at some stage would also be a nice add-on.

Weltevreden is just around the bend, I always get my takeaways from there. Debonairs and Steers. Yummy.

The AP22 was R1700 which is a lot cheaper than it costs here.

I joined the club through paypal. They quote in pounds or dollars and when it comes off the credit card they do the forex conversion automatically.

I did the tyre warming thing at Tarlton...so I guess it works...well maybe

If youre having problems getting traction down with the 17"s it might be more difficult with 15"s

At the moment Im just decatting and replaing the std air filter. When I do go for an ECU I think Ill get the Perfect Power SMT-6...seems to be a much better option than the Unichip and other piggyback chips.

We should meet up sometime for drinks or something...get the SA portion of Cliosport up

what do you mean?

oh do you mean when would i come over, wouldnt beuntil next summer as i have to get all my police stuff out of the way first, but im hopefully going to oz next summer for a few weeks so i could pop by then and catch a few waves, been thinking tho dont you have great whites in your part of the world? ewwww scary!

We should do that, maybe meet up at Westbank one Sunday, and then take it from there. We should also get all other clio owners that attend these meetings to join and maybe make our own little club.

With the 15" I plan to warm them up properly, a feel to sorry for my 17".

R1700 is not bad. I tried paypal but they do not support South Africa. I will probably have to use snail mail or something.

  2005 Audi A3 3.2 Quattro

Yeah, Wesbank sounds like a plan.

Strange about Paypal as I managed to use it fine to join the club.

Nosh...we have some great whites mostly in the cold cape waters, but most other places are great white free...but not shark free...I should know Ive gone diving with them. Aus also has its fair share of white sharks
