46" TV Sony

Ok just spoke to the rents and they want a new tv, they have been looking at this:

I'm not a tv person at all, but they said if i can find it cheaper, theyll get a blueray too, that means ps3

Any tv boffins?

Thats what i said, there funny about buying something online, annoying!!!!

Anyone have any ideas what the tvs like, ive looked on some of the geek forums but the wording is out of my league!lol

Cannae fault the Bravia's.........I have a 50" rear projection HD ready Sony Bravia and it's ace!

Only alternative would be the Samsungs!

the W series is very nice, sony reliability, not quite as good as samsung from what ive seen. Panasonic and samsung would be my choice. Basically Samsung if you want LCD, Panasonic for Plasma. 46Pz80B or 800 would be my recomendation.

Expect people to now slate the above. but thats my opinion.

Sharp are worth a look for the money.

IMO - Anything over 42" = Plasma, anything less than 42" go LCD.

I've looked at a few different sets over the years and always find Plasma looks better on a bigger scale, blacks are better and the frame rates are better.

LCDs are great for gaming and HD, but not so great for SD.

I've got an LCD and a Plasma, and the plasma is the better of the two IMO

Check out Avforums.com, I've been a member there for sometime, and you will get a lot of advice.

Samsung make 70% of the parts for Bravia TVs - including the glass. Strange I know but apparently fact. I'd still go with the Sony though. I've got a 26" Bravia in my bedroom and it's sexy as hell even at 26".

Samsung and Sony own a joint company S-LCD who produce the panels. They don't make the parts for Sony.

get a hanspree....you know it makes sense no one can give you 3 day garentees like those boys
