5.5th gear

Does your 182 have a secret 5.5th gear that you get stick in when you are trying to downshift to 4th to quickly? Or do I need to work on my gear shift aggression strategy?

It's where 6th would be if it was there

This, never noticed it myself. The clio does have a bit of a notchy feel to the gears though.

Think I need to have my gear linkage checked? I tend to go diagonally from 5th to 4th. Maybe I should be more precise and go DOWN LEFT DOWN, SIR!

I have the same problem...not speedshifting or anything.
Just get the place where sixth woulb be more often than 4th.
Is this a linkage issue, or a spring issue...i was plannjng on making a sort of guide for tne stick to prevent it.

I've noticed it but only if I'm down shifting too quickly. I didn't think anything of it, assumed I was being a crap driver.

Never had a issue ! But the gearboxes in these LOVE being slammed into gear ! Oh wait .....

Renaults are not really known for there amazing gearboxes ! Lol just take half a second extra find the right gear ! It's no quicker slamming it in and missing it ! Put it in, get it right first time mate !

Bump, mine has definitely started doing this lately, even on a slow change you have to pay more attention. I know my engine mounts are shagged so going to get them done and hope its not the linkages either.

My car has led an exceptionally easy life but when I first got it sometimes I'd rush it and I'd miss 3rd coming up from 2nd.
Remember kids, you're not getting laid if you miss a gear at 7k rpm while showing off to your mrs!
Anyway, I digress - I take my time now.

Lol I was the same when I first got the 225. Mastered it now although I miss third a few times still.

Well I haven't had my linkages looked at yet. It still happens to me sometimes. I've also noticed if I'm shifting too quickly I tend to only half press the clutch and get a slight crunch. I've picked up bad habits from my old car

don't get this on mine. I change gear pretty quick.
