64bit vs 32bit Windows 7?

  Liquid Yellow 182 FF
Hey peeps,

Quick question, my Dad's looking at getting my sister a new PC with windows 7 etc, alot of PC's for sale now come with 64bit Windows 7....? Will all the programs etc still work as they would on 32bit?

Thanks

I run 7 64bit at home and it works perfectly.. all my previous 32bit software runs without a hitch - the only problem that i've had is that it won't run my logitech webcam .. says that its "incompatible" however its nothing major!

I run 64bit XP at work and have had quite a few nightmares getting programmes to run.. so its definately an improvement! :D

(vastly so over vista x64 )

64-bit all the way. If your hardware will support it, you might as well use it. :)

I've had but a single issue with 64-bit, so I would definitely recommend it.

my laptop is quite old so i installed the 32 bit version, very impressed tbh, thought it would slow my computer down loads, but it hasn't. Everything works perfectly....so far

My Dad has just got a brand new PC with Windows 7 64 bit and he is having all sorts of problems. I think Adobe Page Plus is his main issue. I think thats what it's called.

Not tried win7 but I found xp64 a pain

With a bit more support and development, that could have been a truly superb O/S. I bought it in OEM form and ran it for some time. It was really, really quick on initial installation - just a shame that hardly anything supported it.

The two things that were a guaranted install on it though were the 64-bit editions of both Far Cry and Unreal Tournament 2004.

I removed W7 64bit from my Acer Revo and replaced it with the 32bit version as several apps I needed would not run.

Not found anything that does not run under windows 7 64 bit. It supports 32 bit apps fine if they won't run there are always compatibility modesor if you have professional or ultimate and it is an office type app. XP mode to get them to run.

No reason to go for the 32bit especially if you have high 4gb or more memory. Then 64bit is what you should be running.
