6x9s in 172.

  Monaco Blue 172
From experience do people reckon that it is worth adding 6x9s into a 172 or just upgrading the front and rear speakers.

No from me, 6x9's just ruin any soundstage. Get some decent components, and if you still want more bass then add a sub. But 6x9's are jack of all, master of none.

nope get a set of components they are a little harder to install but will give a massive gain

no need for 6x9's, ive replaced the fornt and the rears, its good enough, with the clio being small it doesnt need many speakers to fill it with sound.

If you had been to a concert, you would know that there are speakers at the front and the back of the gig. Also not everyone has the money to buy £200 speakers for the front. If you went to K&M Acoustics in Wigan they could set up your car with 6x9's in the back shelf and it would sound brilliant.

Oooooh Kay!
Before the arguing starts :nono: (no offense intended whatsoever)

A concert is a hell of a lot larger than the "listening space" in a Clio

You don't need £200 speakers in the front just because you don't put 6x9s in.
My first components were £90 - awesome difference, even before an amp.

On a security note, 6x9s in the parcel shelf is'nt exactly discreet

ICE is down to personal taste & budget.
Advice and sound quality do play their part in making decisions though
- certainly got me interested hence having an install to be proud of :approve:

I vote for a decent set of components up front, and if you feel like being nice to you rear seat passengers then leave connected/upgrade the rears...

lmao i use a £20 pair of comps running off the hu but i think it would surprise most

I have 6x9's they came with the car but they are hidden under the plastics at either side of the parcel shelf. I think they sound ok to be honest. But that is my opinion, and in my car thats the only one that counts. If I am honest I probably would of just upgraded every thing like most on here are saying, but its done now and I dont waste money lol
