8awg to small?

ive got an 500watt Directed Amp 250watt RMS do you think a 8awg cable is to small?

the problem im having is when i turn the music up the lights dim a bit on beats and the subs seem to give one big beat for start of the song then quiet down afterwards.

ive got a 4awg earth cable fm battey to chassy as well as the standard one that came on the car. so one 4awg and one 8awg for earth.

any surjestions?

Not sure why you have a 4awg from the battery to the chassy only need to have the amp grounded the battery is allready got a ground also there is no earth on a car it neutral/ground

the battery ground is done in 8 awg and quite frankly s**t

it allows for higher current flow when you have an amp
