About to buy a domain from 123-reg....

  SchwepTek™
Ok so have many people used 123-reg before?

The domain i want is just for some uni work and will be linked to my mobileme account so only need the domain.

It is a *.info domain and the 1st year is only 99p! LOL.

Its asking for name and address etc. Is it safe to put these details?

Yes I use 123-reg for my UK domains, just use them to forward web and email to the .com versions hosted elsewhere.

What the hell is all this CNAME stuff about? lol

How do i point the new domain to my mobileme account?

DMS

  A thirsty 172
CNAME = Cananonical Name record.
It indicates the true host name of a computer that an alias is associated with.
In other words, it's an alias for a host name (signified with an A record), or its proper use would be to use it as an alias for an IP address (where multiple host names exist for one IP address).

Example

An A record would point the hostname host.domain.com to an IP address.
A CNAME record would point alias.domain.com to host.domain.com
OR
A CNAME record would point to alias.domain.com, and another CNAME record would point alias.different-domain.com to the same IP address.

If you just want to point the new domain to your mobileme account then you need to set up a forwarder.

I use them for all my sites, never had any problems with them.

Use the web forwarding command to forward the domain to another address.
