Accelerator not working.

First time its done this..

Got home last night about 1am after watching the united match, got in the car to take the mrs home, started the car tried to move off and there was nothing, turned the car off and on, still the same but the engine management light came on as did the emission/ electrical fault light, and it was idling at 2000rpm, managed to limp it to the mrs house at 20mph -.- left it at the bottom of the hill by the mrs house, walked her home came back to it and it was fine but the engine management was still on... Bout 10mins later it died and returned to 2000rpm and nothing on the accelerator.. Fast forward to 8am cars fine but engine management light is still on, plugged it into my diagnostics scanner and thers nothing in there.. So im stuck..

Anyone else had this problem? If so what the hell was it?!

Get it hooked up to an RSTuner. When mine had trouble, the fault code scanner showed nothing, but the RSTuner read all the stored faults.

Il have to buy one >.< 3.5k on a diagnostics scanner and it wont find a simple code.. Piece of shite

Gotta be throttle pedal or throttle body related.

When my TB got wet, it behaved similar.......i.e., idled at about 2.5-3k and the pedal had no effect

Fortunately mine resolved itself, when it dried out but not sure what could have goosed yours. Suppose the cold/damp could have a similar effect or it has just failed.

Second the RSTuner....mine showed me everything that was going on

I had something similar, was doing Limp Home mode (throttle works but limited to 3000rpm) more often than the sticking at 2.5-3k RPMs thing, turned out to be electrical interference for me...... might not be the same fault for you but here's my summary for reference.

try soldering the throttle-pedal sensor near the clutch pedal first. if it is not getting better you can start changing parts...
