Adrian Flux question

DMS

  A thirsty 172
I got a quote from Adrian Flux yesterday ~ £930 fully comp!
That's almost £150 more than I currently pay, and yet I'll have accumulated an extra years NCB. As a result I politely declined their offer.
I then got a text message to my phone around an hour later saying they could insure it for £794 (still more than I pay now, so I ignored it).
However, I checked my email this morning and I've got an email from Adrian Flux saying that they can do it for £712, which is about 40 quid cheaper than I currently pay. I can't expect an enormous discount because even though I have an extra year's NCB, my annual mileage has now increased a fair bit so this price seems reasonable.

My question is, has anyone else had any previous experience of this? Do they keep looking for better prices for you after the initial telephone conversation, and can I expect them to contact me again with an even cheaper price before I take the offer up?

They didn't with me, but then I did an online quote and just got an email and stated that I'd not bought the car yet. Hope they do this with me though, even though their first price was really quite good anyway!

I've been with Flux for years , every year their first renewal quote has goes up . I find a better quote then they always beat it .

It's just their way of trying to earn a bit of extra cash i guess , hopefully relying on the person to just accept the first quote as so many people do . More often than not though they'd rather keep your business than lose it .

Their online quotes are always more than if you actually talk to somebody on the phone .

Try getting an even cheaper quote and see if they will beat their last one .

Here area few to try if your interested .

Yeah I figured there's a possibility of them beating the quote after reading other threads on the subject. I've only rang Flux and Sky so far (Flux were much cheaper), and intend to ring round a few others later.

Cheers for the numbers :)

Confused.com will find you the cheapest then just go back to flux with that price

Confused.com is pointless. There aren't enough fields for me to declare all my mods, so that price wouldn't be accurate. Plus most of the specialist insurers aren't on there.

It's laughable really . Last years renewal quote was £200 more than the previous years premium . I told them i'd had a better quote and within minutes on the phone they'd beaten it . It was less than the previous years premium . Its like a game " we " play every year lol .

More often than not though they'll want some sort of proof of the better quote .

The FSA says that any quote you get you can ask for and they should supply to you as a written quote by post . So if you do get a cheaper quote over the phone ask " can i have that in writing please " and they have to oblige .

Fair point, I've never had a modified car so I didn't consider that.

I spent about 20 minutes on the phone to both Flux and Sky yesterday declaring every mod I've got lol. It's quite annoying really, they need to know absolutely every non-standard part, and I have about 60 odd of them :S
Someone should create a "confused.com" for modified cars.

Or perhaps use comparethemarket, owned by Budget Insurance.

When i was with adrian flux on my 172, they quoted me with highway £300 up from the previous year, rang them up and they only got £100 knocked off and said they couldnt do it any cheaper through Highway insurance.
Went to Brentacre and they got it £300 cheaper than the lowest quote of flux, and more surprisingly it was through the same company, highway, that flux couldnt get any cheaper. And with that i got 190bhp limit and as many mods as i want with Brentacre which flux couldnt offer

Sky, A-Plan and Chris Knott are very competitive.

I would seriously recommend Brentacre in this kind of instance.

I'm 23 with 4 years NCB, 1 none fault accident and 4 years driving experience in the worst area code for insurance (e* is it?).

Brentacre come back at £760 fully comp, insured to 210bhp with european breakdown.

Get a very personal service too!

Flux suck. I've posted before about how bad they were so search if you want to read it as I'm lazy today lol

HIC have been better for me but I believe they either own or are owned by Flux. Either way, customer service seems to be better so so far so good...

Next year I'm going to try some 'normal' companies as I finally won't have any points, just mods lol

Flux couldn't touch my quote from Sky Insurance off of here tbh.

The guy on the phone even said he couldnt touch that quote and there was no point continuing the conversation! LOL!

Il give Sky a ring on Monday see what they can do...Most of my mods are now gone so in theory it should go down.

I was paying £250 something with Tesco the other year :S

Quick question while we're talking about Flux: Did anyones premium go up when they added coilovers onto their policy?

And I think Im right in saying they insure mod like for like? So I presume that must include £1500 ish worth of coilovers?

Don't know how people can say Flux are crap . I've been with them for years , probably 8 or 9 years .

I'm too lazy to search for your post " white16valver " ;) Maybe you and yellowbelly have both had bad experiences with them ? I'm sure they're not the first and wont be the last insurance company that somebody has had a problem with , these things do happen in life .

My experience when i had a claim can only be positive . The job was sorted so i was happy , plus like i said above , they " always " beat any other quotes i have , year in year out .

Everybodies experiences are different .

So do you reckon it's worth ringing up and asking them to beat my best quote so far, even though they've said they can't do it any lower?

Tbh , i only ever ring them back with a good lower quote when i've exhausted all avenues . They will only usually beat a quote once from my experience , they wont keep doing it . Its never failed for me and i paid £200 less than the renewal they sent me and less than the previous years premium , so i was a happy bunny .

At the end of the day . Everyones circumstances are different . i.e , postcode , driving experience , claims ...... etc so whats good for one is not always good for another . It's just the experience of dealing with Flux for me has always been a positive one .
