Advice needed

Right, recently bought a 9813r Alpine head unit. I wanted to find out what speakers you think would work well. I wanted to start with the front doors, then some 6x9s and then AMP & SUB! mmmmm

Its gona take me a while to get all of this as I live in London and insurance is a b**ch but wanted to start with the front doors this month.

Cheers

First thing Id say is dont bother with the 6x9s with a sub as they dont sound great (do a search on here and youll see what i mean!)

As for fronts its 13cm components that you need. What sort of budget you thinking of?

Didnt really want to spend more than £50-£100 on the fronts.

Can you recomend any? Id like something quite bassy.

Just seen these on Alpines site: SPX - 137R!

They sound well tasty - anyone heard em yet or have any idea of a price?

For £100 you could get a set of infinity components from Halfords so you could get them cheaper elsewhere, pretty decent for the money. Not heard the alpines yet im afraid. There was a pretty long thread on here recently with quite a few reccomendations, ill see if ican find it.

alpine arent as good at making speakers as they are at making head units!!

Infinity comps are good, espesially in the kappa range. Other good makes

Crystal, DLS, polk,

If it were my money i would chose any of the 2nd to 6th of this page - bearing in mind that they will run OK off the hu, but at some point should be amped up

I would try and spend a little more, say upto £150 on the fronts, it will be well worth it - as you are sitting in the front at the end of the day!!

Defo no 6*9s - they drag the sound stage back, interfere with the sub woofer in terms of the enclosure(boot) and certian bass cancelation issues can pop up if they are even slightly out of phase with the sub.
