Advice on £500 laptops please!

ive gotta get my bro a laptop he has no idea on them and i have little knowledge i got one from dell lil while back with centrino and this is what he wants but doesnt want to wait.

whats these 2 like and how do they compare as there different processers?

i presume the centrino one is wireless would the other processor be wireless too?

my bro is very inpatient and gets anoyed about waiting for stuff and aint the best on computers!

Top laptop is the pretty much the same one as I have got. It's a decent laptop, coding, word processing and web browsing is fine on it. Just don't expect to play any games on it.

If he wants Aero graphics within Vista on it, he will have to buy another laptop.

The battery on mine is pretty decent as well, lasts over 3hours.

With regards to the AMD one, it will be wireless, because it has a WLMi suffix on it.

he basically wants to download music,make cds maybe get a dj programme for it and general web browsing and downloading thats about it!

A few people i know have these and they are quite smart and will probably be worth twice as much as the acer in 3 years time for resale.

Vista is the next operating system from Microsoft. You'll have heard about it in a couple of months, once it's released in January.

The one bigmouk linked to looks quite good, although it only has 512mb RAM in it.
