Ali
Reference your enquiry on the Clio Cup we have for sale, the 225 bhp is
obtained from our 200 bhp engine kit see our web site for further details.
We then fit a new exhaust manifold and system, new motorsport ECU and a
forced induction air filter system. This gives another 25 bhp pushing it up
to 225.bhp while still retaining excellent driveability and economy for
everyday use.
Regards
E Larton.

Impressive! By forsed induction, do you mean Supercharged?

225Bhp, Someone told me that this is only obtainable though in the
instalation of throttle bodies?

LAD seem to have a good reputation, Is this a popular conversion, or one you
frequently do to customers cars?

Cheers

Alistair.

Sorry it should have read cold air ram effect ,rather than a cone filter
under the bonnet.. Because we do get some people saying that we cannot get
200 bhp from this engine we have had a independent rolling road power read
out at Well Lane Turbo Center on a customers car and it gave 208 bhp
against 2003 on our rolling road . I have attached a copy of this , you do
not require throttle bodies to obtain this power. The 200 bhp kit is very
popular and we do around three a month at the moment, both on the 172 and
182 also V6 Clio. The road test report on our web site always brings in
customers as again it is a independent one.The next Clio conversion would be
the end of may.

I think I must be Blind Ernie but I can't see any prices on the site...
That's an impressive RR sheet, looks nothing like mine in terms of shape. Mine ran 171Bhp and 146ft/lb torque as std. See I've found this useful Site called Cliosport.net? Not sure if you've heard of it? But basically there suggesting that I'd have to do alot of engine work to surpass 200Bhp out of the 2.0l engine? Who's wrong and who's right here?
I'm a bit of an amateur at engine preparation.

pmsl, LAD are a bunch of jokers. I've had a comparison with a silver 182 before now and it had in big red writing down the door "200bhp"... oh dear...

it was a bird driver too, gave her a chance and let her go first and reeled her in and passed it immediately... not a chance was it 200bhp! more like 182 at a guess lol.

What a great quote....2003 on their rollers? That explains a lot ;)

Good work Ali, you must be a fisherman to reel him in so easily:)

Gotta get outta here the smell of BS is too much:dead:

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
'cold air ram effect' sounds good, i cant seem to see the details of the '200hp set up' on their site? wonder what the 'motorsport ecu' is also?

Brilliant ! Nice one Ali

His emails don't even make sense though tbh - as why would they do a '200bhp kit' for the 172,182 & v6 ??
Does he mean he's going to lose 30bhp from the vee ???:S

Most of our Clio conversions are now coming from cars we have already
modified after other owners have tried them. , The reason i said to look on
our web site is for the road test report carried out by a magazine that is
also where the work is coming from. What model of Clio do you own?

E Larton.

Yep, interesting read. I think i remember it when it was published. I have a 172 RS clio. It's the newer shape i belive. What would you suggest for my car? It's std at present bar a couple of little tweeks here and there? I'm not concerned with the handling aspect of the car coz i feel the money would be better spent on track tuotion. I just want a bit more Poke - for the lack of a better word. Would be nice to have more power than the later 182 Renault. I have a sizable budget for this. The 200Bhp Kit sounds just what i need. Whats included exactly?

All the best

Ask them to give you an idea of how long the conversion would take and what guarantees and warranty they give with it!

lol

I bet you get a saying something along the lines of "extensive head work" and absolutely no other details.

Remember when we invited Ernie to a rolling road day and he wanted us to pay for transport/trailer... What a fool..
