air feed pipe corroding!

my silver cold air feed pipe end piece seems to be corroding away! its only been on there for 3 months? how can i prevent this? Brasso?

i think its powercoated so you can use something like t-cut to remove the corrosion, assuming its just cosmetic. but once clean i would then lacquer it which should provide some protection.
