Air Filter

Whats the purpose of an air filter and what happens when yours get clogged up old and obviously worn out just a quick query

Im not an expert on it, but Im assuming it just stops all the crud in the air ie. bugs and leafs etc from entering the engine.
Obviously its best for all the crud to clog up a filter than an engine, and the filter can simply be cleaned

the two words say it all. AIR FILTER - FILTERS AIR.

Engine uses air and petrol for combustion - which must be clean hence you have a fuel filter and air filters etc...

Clogged up = less air = less combustion = no bang bang
