mine dos for some reason, it almost sounds like a dump valve for some reason when i boot it,

its the engine taking a deep breath when i change gear i guess

Brought a pipercross filter off a forum member, Cant wait for abit of noise.

Obviously it wont sound pukka untill you have a loud exhaust etc.

go for a pipercross, as i hear they make the most noise?

Ebay will probably be cheaper.

what i want is something that will sound meaty cant you remove the suare box of the back of the engine and attach a filter?

Yeah, you unbolt the air box, and take it off. then install the air filter. Easy enough job. I took my airbox off to see what it was like. took 10mins.

Not sure which is loudest to be honest. But pipercross uses sponge, which lets more air in i think. and K&N uses paper/mesh, something like that which i didnt think allowed as much air in. Probably wrong though.

Nice exhaust would be a better noise and pound for pound power gain. Even a De-cat on a standard system would add some noise and more power than a induction kit.

What a crock of s**t. Making a car louder you have a few options....

Pull airbox feeds out
Induction kit
Drill exhaust
New "sports" exhaust

Despite what people think cotton is better than foam.

hi mate i have the same engine as u, i bouht the ramcharger from k-tec, it sounds really good because its in a casing so it sounds deeper and the sounds is echoed, plus its near the front plus it looks good, then if u want diferant just remove the casing an ur left with the filter alone! buut with this engine it sound good beetween 2500 and 5500 then its really loud!

The loudest induction kit you can get is a Powertec one. As the whole thing is steel and not plastic like some of the better well known brands it acts like a megaphone.

I had one and it made my 172 sound like a Scooby (almost)

Hi ive had a viper piper which was enclosed with cold air feed from bottom grill.then i changed to a k@n gen 2 which is a cotton filter that is open and can suck allround.the differance is amazing.acceleration is vastley improved and induction roar when under load is fantastic.an engine needs to breathe as much cold air as u can give it.foam enclosed filters are too restrictive.
