Airbag / serv light coming on on the dash.

ashy_gtt

Hello,

As the title suggests the two lights are now constantly lit up on my dash, I have had a search of the boards and gather that it might be the wiring under the passenger seat.... I have been out and had a quick wiggle with no joy. Just wondering if this is the probable cause as the car is a Clio V6 rather than a 172 / 182 etc....

If so does anyone know if there is a more scientific way to do it rather than just wiggle the wires in a random fashion? Which wires (colours etc) am I looking for? are there any connectors I can clean up etc?

Cheers very much

Ashy.

I always thought that the wires beneath the passenger seat only controlled the serv warning light and not the airbag warning light. thats how it was on mine anyway.

Try the wires under the drivers seat . Thats what caused mine to come on .

"Look under both front seats.. You will see a grey plastic connector with a blue and a brown wire going in/out..

Cut the wires off the plug and solder them together.. ie blue to blue, brown to brown..

That should cure the problem"

From a previous time it was asked.

Seat belt warning light

The SERV and AIRBAG lights come on its a common problem (almost every has it) its due to the wiring of the pretensioners going to an open circuit. Fiddle with the wires under the seat an the problem will go away.
On the early cars the solution is to look under each of the seats. You will see a grey connector.
On the passenger side disconnect it and cut the Blue and Brown wires off both sides. Then solder the Blue wire to blue, and the Brown to the other brown. Make sure you use insulating sleeves over the soldered connections..
Under the driver seat there are two pairs of wires in the grey connector.. Only cut the Blue and Brown wires and solder them together as above.. Reconnect the connector..
On the facelift cars it is ONLY the passenger side connector that is affected.. So again cut and solder the Blue and brown wires.

Its not always the wiring under the seat that causes it.... its just usually the common thing of wiggling the wires about under the seat that has worked for most peeps.....
I had one a while back it was the rotary coupler behind the steering wheel, so the only way to see which sensor is causing it on yours is to put it on the diags... it will tell you :)
Other wise your pissing in the wind really :)

Yea I know:( it's just that it's not got an mot so can't be driven to a garage or anything, and I don't know anyone with a diag machine thing:(
