AIrbag warning light.

Let someone into the back of my 172 last night and then put passenger seat back into position. Started car up and airbag and serv light came on. After a bit of thought I realised it must be to do with moving seat andthen it disappeared later after messing about with the seat a couple of times. Ok this morning, anybody else had this? Presumably some wire underneath seat a bit loose?

Its a common problem... Take it back to the dealers and they will hard wire it.

Its just the connector under the seat which is a bit dodgy!

Just check the connector its probably a bit loose, no need to let a dealer loose on it unless you really need to!

I had this exact same problem the other week. The light seemed to go out after a bit of hard braking & never came back on again... Ill check that connector too.

Yeah loose connection on seatbelt pretensioner plug. Took mine to a dealer, hoping they would have a quick fix. The service manger looked at it and fiddled with the wires. Thankfully he didnt charge for his advice/time. The light went out, anytime its come on since, Ive just reached under the seat and done it myself. He said they could sort the problem and clear any error codes on the ECU for about £60, but it meant cutting off the connectors and soldering the wires. I though it wasnt worth it, and if you ever needed to remove the seat youd be knackered.

But in the event of a accident, i would think the passenger side airbag and the passenger dashboard airbag would probably not work.

Whats £60 this days...

...its like 30 Big Mac Meals..

I have had this problem so many times, do not worry about it, it will sort its self out.

Whenever we took it too the dealer, for some reason it sounded like they were in little britian. "Computer Said No, Cough"

 i dont get it. i thought it was a known problem and easily solved by the dealer!!

my lights came on sporadically, so i took it to the dealer to be fixed under warranty, free of charge (which they did, no grumbles) and i havent had a problem since!!

I havent got side bags, only dash bag and pretensioner. The airbag/pretensioner will surely work when the light is out, its only when its on that you have to worry. When I got it serviced @ they checked the computer and there were no error codes. (mines a 2001 X-plate, Mk2 Ph1).
