anyone know where i can get something like this, possibly just in black plastic, because methinks that 40 quids a bit steep for that!

Plastic would cost a lot more than 40 quid!

For small volume items like this its much cheaper to fabricate them in ally or similar than pay for the tooling required to injection mould or similar.

fair enough!! i just wondered if there were any similar cheaper adaptors, that one looks quality, but its a 1.2 so im hardly likely to be showing off the excuse for an engine in the front!

ive got that found its good plastic one snapped where the bolts fit through the top so i ordered one of those metal ones dose the job perfect

Carbon look one? Think those are vacuum formed and as such quite unsuitable for being bolted down!
