Alloy Damage!!

  'Berg Sold, Cupra-R
Hoping this is in the right section.........

Had a new tyre fitted today at a local 'Tyre Specialist' in Leeds. Because of work commitments, I had a family member take it down for me and bring it back home. When i got it back, the alloy (172 FF) was chipped/cracked all around the outer lip and had obviously been dropped on this face. Having recently had my alloys refurbished by The Wheel Specialist im rather gutted to say the least.

Do you think making a complaint to the company that have fitted the tyre will get me anywhere? Is it worth it?

Any help appreciated,

Cheers

Dan

I haven't really got a clue how tyre's are changed but didn't think they could do this much damage.

So would a Plastic/Rubber covered lever bar more than likely prevented this Fred? Its really dissapointing that a so-called 'Tyre Specialist' can do this.

Gutted........Big Time!

Yup as Fred has said they probably didnt use the correct kit...

Also, before you go steaming into the company. Deff make sure the family member hasnt dropped/damaged the wheel!! (just double checking, im sure they wudnt)

Other then that, get straight back to them first thing...

Yeah deffo wasn't family member (Mum) who dropped or anything like that, she cant even lift the thing!! Ha. Looking like £57 for a refurb at The Wheel Specialist. She did say something to the guy who put it in the boot for her about a big gaping chip in the alloy....his reaction was "Well we have to mark the wheel to get the tyre on". Obviously my mum didn't notice all the other chips and cracks as she didn't really analise. Typical mums eh? Ha

Speak to Brian. I'd get him to have a look at it, do you a printable quote from them so it has their logo etc on it, and take it to the garage who messed it up.

"Well we have to mark the wheel to get the tyre on".

I'd start kicking off if that's what they'd been saying.

Although, I'd be more inclined to send a letter directed to their head office, instead of confronting them at the garage of said tyre fitting.

That's b****cks, I can change the tyres on my 172 16s (which are painted not even powdercoated) using a metal lever bar with no covering whatsoever without marking them. They've taken the piss because it was a woman, I'd go back down as long as you're 100% sure it wasn't someone else.

Was thinking about sending a letter but ive been on their website and they have a feedback/query section. Dropped them an email with whats happened and all that, left my contact details so hopefully they will either give me a ring tomorrow or email. Luckily i'd cooled down before sending them the email so it was quite well worded, although i did say it looked like they'd put the tyre on with a brick, which I kind of wish i hadn't of put even though that was the best way to describe how the alloy looks.

Cheers for the advice,

Get it back mate asap before they say youv done it.

Probs set the bar way to low on the machine so it was tochin the wheel, then when theyv span it round its gone the whole way around the wheel

It doesnt sound like its been dropped on its face. It sounds like theyve put your wheel straight on the tyre machine without changing it from the wheel before. Ive done this before after working 12 hours:eek: luckily it was only one of my wheels.
