A BMW X5 moron didn't bother to look in his mirrors and veered across a couple of lanes, nearly putting his rear right wheel across my bonnet, I was forced to brake and swerve, I kissed the curb with my left front alloy.
Guy did wave and apologise to me several times afterwards, so I left it at that.
At the time I didn't know whether to be glad it wasn't worse and continue or go after him. If I'd of gone after him what could I have done other than ask for his insurance? Discussing it with a friend they suggest I report him to the Police as they would send him a letter about dangerous driving. As there were no witnesses and it was my word against his (and his wife - young oriental lady in the car) the chances are I would have got no where anyway with insurance, so decided it was sensile to carry on home. I've gone after people in the past and had to block them with my car to stop them keep driving away from me, which usually results in them locking the doors and sounding the horn, driving off again and eventually I get fed up with chasing them (and looking like a Psycho).
Anyway the damage was basically a roughed up lip all around the edge and paint removed from the crescent shapes on two of the five pokes, I could of left as it but decided to lavish some 1st aid on her. Took it to "Automotive something or other" on Sandown Road, off Ascott Drive, Derby. They swapped it with my spare and a day later it is back looking as good as new shiney, clean, damage free and looking pretty amazing!
I paid £55 for a wheel refurb and do not know if this is expensive/cheap or right, but to be honest I don't care, they've done a great job and I am happy - which is the main thing ;-)
If anyone wants work doing I would recommend them, if someone tells me there is a better place to go to in Derby then please say so as its useful for future reference.
Cheers H
