Alpine 9845-RB - Steering Control Adaptor?

  03 Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique
Guys,

Been quoted around £60 for this part plus fitting by a CarAudio place in Kettering, Northants.
It's basically the steering control adaptor for the A'n 9845-RB Head Unit.

Is that price about right?
Does anyone have it installed, and how good?

Thanks,

Pete

They add up to £37 and are a piece of piss to fit. They work very well and i've never had a problem with them, I changed to the proper Alpine branded adapter and have gone back to the incartec one because bar the display function the alpine one is shite.

can't u just buy um from halfrauds
That is also another route, but you have to take the dashtop off to fit the autoleads one that halfrauds sell.

Thanks for that bud.
How easy, baring in mind i'm a complete novice? I thought all the head unit wiring was down near the bonnet lever under the carpet, or am I mistaken?
£37 is a good price I guess.

Cheers,

Pete.

Quoting from reply to my thread lol

N'eh worries. I hate to see people spend money they don't need to.

The stalk adaptor is easy, it simply plugs in line between the standard stalk loom and the headunit with a headphone style jack in the back of the headunit as well. The hard part is hiding all of the wires and arranging them so that the unit slides back.

I found the best way to tackle this was to re-jig the loom so that it came out at the other side of the openeing, when you get the Renault unit out you will see what I mean.

Cool, so ill only need to pull the head unit out and rearrange the wires behind, nothing plugs in anywhere else other than the back of the unit itself reet?

Thanks chaps.

Yep, adapter plugs into the yellow mini iso connector the standard headunit did and the other end plugs into the alpine.

  Better than yours. C*nt.

You got anything more descriptive than shite?? Lol sorry mate, but I'm getting one of the two soon, so want to know exactly what their plus n negative is!

Thanks,

Mike

Hi bmh.

I've had these a while now and looking at them on my bedroom floor reminded me to post about them - I got exactly those two parts, and took them to an audio place in Kettering after failing to get the controls working myself, despite it seeming simple enough.
The guy that worked on it said they aren't not the right jobbie, and thus I'd need different components.
Any ideas on this please? I've got a 2003 plate 1.6 16v Dynamique 3 door, with aftermarket Alpine headunit.

Thanks,

Pete.

Cheers for that I'll pick em up and shouldn't have a problem fittig em.
Dont think its gonna work with my CD changer tho unless I try and hack the wiring myself. Its gutting becuase the ph-quicks come with a alpine 6 disc changer!

wups posed this on the wrong post... its almost the same as my post lol

Well thats the correct adapter 100%, are you sure they've sent you the right one?

Reasonably confident mate. Obviously I can only go on the invoice sheet compared to the image on the website, and the product itself visually and product codes etc... Seems to match?

The guy was adamant it wouldn't function.
He even had it connected, and took me into the garage section where they fit it and it definitely wasn't playing ball.

Could it be the alpine end?

Well i'd say it must be faulty then, its 100% the same adapter i've got so it must be a duff one. Return it to CAD for a replacement, they're always been spot on with me so getting another one shouldn't be a problem.

Can't see it being the HU. Unless a replacement one doesn't work as well.

Ok bud, cheers.

Only problem is will they replace it, with it being well after the 28 day return period? I don't hold out much hope.
I've literally not actioned it and it's sat there because I'm lazy and don't like spending money ;)

Thought it would be a straight connect up and away we go...
HU is fine, not really ever had issues with it in the nearly year I've had it, and it's been used constantly day in day out in those 12 months.

Cheers,

Pete.

Well its faulty so I can't see why they wouldn't, just say it stopped working one day. If it doesn't work (which it seems not to) then they wouldn't be able to tell whether it was bust in the first place or whether its broken in use.
