How can you possibly be having trouble with iTunes?! It's about as easy to use as it gets?!

What are you having trouble doing mate?

He's right, you know. Not that I'd ever admit installing a piece of Apple software on my PC, but it really is a piece of p1ss to use. ;)

its a fecking pointless peice of software tho, why do we have to open the thing up to transfer files to it, why couldnt it just be a mass storage devices and you could drag and drop to the folders?? So I have to have it on my laptop so my gf can put my music onto her ipod video.

I'm guessing what KyleB said - anapod is just what I need to send files accross without using iTunes??

best thing ipod related is YouTube Grabber to get latest music vids for the ipod to keep her entertained on the train!

I used to think this too. My car stereo ("empeg") uses playlists and that really annoyed me when I first started using it, all I wanted to do is "drag and drop" as a mass storage device, but using a "manager" application to organise the music is definately the way to go, much for power for very little more effort.

Although maybe a dual mode would be a good compromise.

simple mode = mass storage drag & drop, reliant on tags
advanced mode = using the "manager" application & playlists etc.

yeah mitch, anapod just sits in your tray, when you plug your ipod in you right click it, connect your ipod and then just drag and drop the files on removable storage stylee.

seemed much faster than itunes, because when i plugged my ipod in i had massive lag that prevented me from doing anything until my itunes had decided it had finished loading.

I maybe unaware of these issues with iTunes as my library is quite small - only 60 songs or thereabouts, at the moment. I guess if you start throwing vid clips in there and stuff, you may notice more of a performance hit?

You will also notice the problem if you want to transfer them back from your ipod. Its one way traffic only!

cheers kyle, I'll have a look at that.

Sn00p its fine if you have a computer you can always access, and have your whole collection managed by iTunes, but it seems stupid that we have to install a program just to put files on a portable device that you may want to use on a number of computer systems.

Not being able to take stuff off an iPod is gay too, but can see why they do it.
