Am i wrong?

I was always under the belief while there is no problem washing with a bucket and sponge (over simplification) as long as you are careful there is still a element that you will be scratching the paint as you are moving the dirt accross it with the sponge.

for this reason i thought that a snow lance was used to loosen up the grit from the paintwork then use the jet to wash it off and used properly would have no adverse effect on the paint (stripping the paint)

now my mate haas been reading all this crap from god knows where and he is telling me that he's highly sceptical about the above and thinks the snow lance is a pile of crap?and the best thing is to do 2 bucket method... i cant see how its gonna i've only just got my karcher and hopefully the lance and soloution comes tomorrow but im starting to wonder if im wrong about it all?

please advise!

thats it it comes out as foam and breaks down the grit and the grime...or so i thought lol. tbh ive just spent a fortune getting my hybrid (not yet finished) resprayed so i dont want to risk swirl marks.

Have a look here mate. Interesting read. To be fare, so long as you don't overly scrub at it you will have minimal swirl marks. Two bucket method and a lambs wool mitt might reduce the chances a little, but you'll still ultimately end up with some. Snow foam works ok, but i'm not a major fan to be honest. Its too weather dependant, any wind and its useless. Sun dries it out too quick and it doesn't have time to do its job (loosening dirt). High pressure hows off the main bits and be careful with the general washing. Dry the car down with a microfibre towel (recommend poorboys waffle weave)

The snow foam is meant as a pre wash . . . nothing more, nothing less. It is designed to take away as much of the first layer of dirt as possible, to minimise the amount that gets stuck in your washing sponge/brushes/mitt.

The two bucket method will again ensure that the least amount of dirt particles are waved around your paint work, again minimising the risk of marring your paintwork.

do what i used to do, Forget washing it and respray it when it gets a bit dirty :D

Being a painter is ace at times lol... :D

best way would be to use both, foam and 2BM

Or polish/seal/protect it so well/much that all you need to do is snow foam and jet wash off.

I rarely clean my car anymore, I just snow foam and any dust comes off. Wheels only require a mitt and some warm, meggy gold class water :)
