Amp help

  BMW 118d

I bought an amp yesterday, but it just wont power up. The power light flickers on and off. The ground is connected into one of the bolts on the bar that runs along the base of the rear seats. What could it be?

i take it all the basics are done, good connections on power earth and the remote wire to the back of the headunit ?

dont suppose you can lay your hands on a mates amp to check its not an issue with the unit ? if its all connected properly and the unit hasnt got a problem then it should run. some head units you have to step through the sound menus to switch on the channel for the amp, this will then send low frequencies to the RCA connections for the amp and mids/highs through the usual speaker wires and can usually be adjusted as to what level gets sent to the amp.

Where are you Matt?

Basic checks would be:

Earth (try another spot, i think i use the luggage net bolt closest to the rear bumper)

Live and remote live, make sure the connections are secure and the fuses are in correctly.

Try another amp to see if its your wiring.
