Amp remote wire?

Hi

just a quick question, my remote wire has frayed and as a result my amp has stopped working,

can I just use any piece of wire, or even speaker cable to do its job? I can't seem to find just a remote wire on its own and I assume it just carries some sort of current to tell the amp to turn on?

yea of course it will be absolutely fine, i wouldnt advise doing this to the power cable but the remote cable will be fine.
