Annoying Stutter

Dont worry! Nothing to do with Gareth Gates!! Recently, every time I start my valver up its stutters and judders then sounds like its gonna stall, then all of a sudden it revs on its own accord, then sounds like its gonna stall then revs again. This goes on for about 5 minutes and then it seems ok. Could this be a problem with the automatic choke, or something else. Its going in for a service on Saturday and I really wanna get it sorted.

Do a search mate, loads of people have this problem, but I dont think many have fixed it.

Ive got the same problem, and so far Ive replaced the;

Coolent Temp Sensor,
Oxygen Sensor,
and had the Idle Speed Control Valve Cleaned

There are more things it could be but I cant remember, like I said, best of doing a search.

At the moment mines behaving itself cos the machanic at Renault adjusted the potentiometer. It now idles a bit higher (1000-1100RPM) but its fine when cold now.

Other than those suggestions above, check the really obvious ones like tightness of the spark plugs and the condition of the HT leads/distributor. My car spat out a spark plug a few months ago, probably becuase I hadt tightened it to the correct torque - cost me £100 to have the car towed to a specialist and have the head re-threded again.

Also, if youve got moded cams, then the idle usually suffers a bit.
