Another Upgrade

Love the new system, but... its addictive.

Im thinking about buying the Intel QX6700 Core2 Quad Extreme processor, but is it worth it?

i currently run a e6750 2.66ghz dual core, which is very fast but, i think i want to upgrade, its just costly!!

i run 2gb of Dual Channel XMS2 RAM, want another 2gb of GeiL or OCZ ram which i will get either way.

Also want to get another EVGA 8800gts superclock to run in SLi with my current which is still a maybe at the moment.

will it be worth it?

oh btw, the processor is a 3.0ghz quad core. about 600 notes.

Just run sli and 4gb ram, if need be overclock your processor a bit, 2.8/9ghz should be easy to achieve. Quad core will come down in price so fast i bet, you pay £600 now, next year its only £300/400.

i mean another GPU alone is like 280 notes, allready have a top mobo to run sli, PSU is more than capable too.

a quad core and gpu is going to be pretty much a grand!! LOL

my system for me i can run everything on max settings on max res, so why would i need to get something better?

i use the pc for gaming, and graphics, lots of high demanding programs open, burning CD's, DVD's.... etc.

Unless your running the 64 bit version of XP or Vista then you'll only see approx 3GB of the 4GB, unless your doing full on video editing then Quad core is a waste of money especially as you've got a top processor anyway, your better of getting the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro cooler for £17 and overclocking your existing processor to over 3GHz

apparently, it is there physically working in your system, it is viewable in the bios and is fully functional but the system spec in windows does not show it? thats from what i gather...

The 3.0ghz is very expensive, have been looking aty the extreme version of the 2.6ghz quad core now, a little bit cheaper and still very powerfull. I have a freezer cooler on my current cpu, i dont like the thought of overclocking lol

Your silly to splash £600 you wont see a noticable difference with what your doing. Just overclock yours. It isnt hard

yeah, i have been having second thoughts for the time being...

will work on the cooling on the case, what temps are steady to run at when overclocking?

I currently use 12cm nexus fand through the case, one front and one back, case is an akasa mirage, very good case for keeping cool (full alluminium), there is not much room for more fans unless i custom make a side mount? would mean drilling my case lol....

I am going to purchase another EVGA 640mb Superclock 8800GTS on payday, aswell as another 2gb of RAM, then work on the cooling and overclocking!!

How do i overclock? any decent guides?

crossfire is ATI and requires a master and a secondry card i think.

SLi is nvidia, this is two main cards i think

I use an asus p5k, it says crossfire compatible on the box.

Will this work with SLi too?
