personally i wouldnt pay over £1500 get a 1.2 and wiv the money you save chuck a 172 lump in it lol insurance will never know till u right it off.also you can hav some fun wiv other 1.2s

I was 18(1yr NC & 19 in 4 months) when I got my 172 cup. I was paying £3500 with Adrian flux for 6 months, and then went on my mums name and that brought it down to £2200 and now I'm on the family business fleet insurance, paying much less.

Just be careful in the wet (if you get a cup) and please don’t try show off to people just because you have a 2.0. I did and almost died at the cost, along with 3 people in the car...so just be careful!

my mate is 17, 18 in two months, he has 3 points, 0 no claims and drive around in an 06 plate Astra VXR.. the bum is on fleet insurance too, apparently extremely cheap

I looked into it before and came to the conclusion that I wasn't going to get insured for less than £3k so decided to buy the 1.6 instead. Looked into it again now i'm coming up to 19 and can't seem to get it for less than £2.5-3k again so won't be getting one this year either just doesn't make sense when the insurance on the 1.6 will be circa £800. But the wait will be worth it i'm sure.

I was 19 and really loved the 172 but kept my Escort and waited till I was 21, saved alot of money on insurance.

You will find most people do as paying over £150 a month on insurance is nuts.

We have all been there, young and wanting a fast car.
