What's your budget? £200. £1000? Really need to give some more info on what you want? Do you have a preference to make? Does it have to be a dslr?

Looking around 200-300

Dslr - basically so I can take some decent shots on my travels.

Believe canon ones are supposed to be the entry level camera of choice? No idea on model numbers tho and what would be suggested in terms of 'must have' features.

What do you guys use?

I use Canon, simply because that's what I started on, built up a lens collection and got to know the layout. Upgraded bodies and lenses over the years.
I think I'm going to sack canon off next time I upgrade though and go mirror-less but that won't be for a long time.

I wouldn't worry too much about mega pixel count unless you are going to be printing massive sizes. 18mp is more than enough.

This seems a decent deal. Might be worth comparing it to the Nikon equivalent.

As I say to anyone though, go to a camera shop and have a play. You might prefer one make to another.

Need a PhD to understand Nikon menus. I've used all sorts over the years, but Nikon still baffles me.

You'd be surprised how quick you can pick it all up.
