Any differences between Ph1 172 and ph2 172 bottom end

Hi All,

I require a replacement bottom end for my ph2 172. I have been offered a Ph1 172 bottom end and am unsure whether it is identical to the ph2 172 bottom end.

Can you tell me if there are any differences and potential issues please?

Thanks

I believe the crankshaft is slightly different in terms of weight. I’m sure someone else will be along to confirm or deny this but if I recall there is a difference between ph1, ph2 and 197/200.
This shouldn’t affect anything in terms of a standard rebuild though!

Ok thanks. I am going to use the original ph2 172 cylinder head. Just need more information regarding if there are differences in bottom ends.
