Any experience of cheap flashguns?

Got told last night I'm getting one for xmas :D

Would love to stretch to a canon speedlight but feel like £200+ is taking the biscuit.

Narrowed it down to an ebay special Yongnuo YN-467 (something like this):

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yongnuo-YN-467-E-TTL-Flash-Speedlite-Canon-EOS-Camera-60D-550D-600D-1100D-/260885844838?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraFlashUnits_JN&hash=item3cbe021366#ht_3371wt_1025

Or the Jessops (aka a Vivitar iirc) own brand 360AFD:

http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/67557/show.html

Both have TTL and both have infra-red metering... One has a manual dial, the other has LCD. Will be used as a main flash on my 450D, currently no other stand alone/slaves and no experience with lighting so just looking for something to do a basic job.

Any opinions?? Or alternatives at a similar price??

Cheers
Sam

ive got a similar one to the ebay special, im no proffesional photography but its and not too bad bit of kit, does what it should and it wasnt too expensive to have practice with and what not. good starting point imo

Canon 430EX Speedlite for £137.00?

Not a bad price for a good flashgun.

Non Canon, I used to have a Sigma EF500 DG Super in 2007 which had an LCD back screen and reached quite far (flash distance), but it was a monster in size.

The latest 2011 model is the Sigma EF610, their basic model (non LCD Back) is £109.00 incl. P&P from Bristol Cameras...

Decent find!! Still a fair whack over budget but might be worth me chucking in 50 quid as well if it would be recommended well over the others... Always weary of second hand stuff but that ad seems genuine.

Again, thanks for the heads up. I'll have a read of some reviews on it.... :D

Other option of course is if I spend the amount on the canon speedlight, would be to get a cheap main flash for xmas, and then chuck some pennies at a slave and maybe softbox set up in January so I had a couple to play with.

EDIT: Just realised that it's Bristol Camera Co so I could pop in this weekend and have a look!

I've got the 360 AFD, they can be picked up on Talk Photography for about £40 and are well worth it. I paid full price for mine and paired up with a cheap set of wireless flash triggers and a cheap tripod it's perfect for off camera flash.
