any garmin nuvi users?

well kids, my tomtom go 710 made a bid for freedom at 100+ mph on the m25 while i was using it on my motorbike.

arse, best part of £300 down the drain and i wasn't chancing my luck running across the m25 to try and pick up the remains from the fast lane.

anyway, lesson learnt, the suction cup can't be trusted.

now for some reason i'm seriously considering getting a garmin to replace my tomtom. i need people who have extensively used both the nuvi and the tomtom to give me their opinion please.

kthnxbye.

Having owned both I far preferred the 3d mapping of the TT units as it more accurately represents the shape and curves of the road ahead. The Garmin mapping has a more cartoon style to it with less accurate representation of the road ahead. It'll show the curve of the road but not as accurate as the TT, with TT you know when the road ahead tightly turns as it's clearly shown that way.

Not sure that makes sense :D

The TomTom Rider is probably your best option, it's not cheap but it does have a motorbike mount.

the tomtom rider and garmin zumo would be perfect, but unfortunately about £400+ is more than i have to spend.

then again add the £280 the tomtom 710 cost me, and the £250+ i'll probably end up spending this time and i could have bought the rider or the zumo in the first place :(

Garmin all the way baby.

Saying that i did have TT on a PDA, worked fine but the Garbage is much better IMHA

As above, I have a Garmin Nuvi, and I much prefer it to the cheaper Tom Tom when I was looking. The Garmin's don't suffer with crashing like the TT's and Garmins customer service is alot better if it goes wrong.

my tomtom never crashed.

My auntie's one crashes all the time and you have to reset it. The display model in Halfords also crashed halfway through the demonstration and the guy there said they have loads of tom toms back for resetting.
I have had loads of Garmin products in the past and have had very few problems, they are also only based in Romsey, Hampshire so its not a case of sending it off to America if it goes wrong.

TomTom are based in Holland and I think they have recently setup a UK repair facility although this may not be correct.
