Ever since I left home and sold my projector, all this has been sat at my mom's not being used. Alls still in mint condition.

Aye that's a good amp, I have one myself. 75w per channel if I remember right, not that wattage actually means very much! I also have a paradigm PDR8 sub woofer kicking around if your interested?

Where did you get the shiny dolby plaque from

My Sony STR DB940 is still going strong after 6 years, should be able to pick one up for peanuts second hand, tiny bit overpowered for those speakers though. :)

or

these are very good performers for the price - Was looking to get the sony HTSS1000 reciever but that comes with speaker package for about £220 also you can get the yamaha with a speaker package called the AV59 for about £220 aswell - all a very good start to home cinema setups on a budget.

hmmmm what would you advise out of those 2? im clueless lol

probs the denon to be honest - are you restricted to space ? if so worth looking up the sony as its slimline

does the sony just have as many features being slimline? im not really tight for space but if the slimline one is just as good i might opt for that...

thanks for the links btw you got one to the sony?

thanks

I have a full Bose set up, sounds crisp and clear! I certainly couldn't justify £20K on a set of speakers!! I like the Bose for it's simplicity, compactness and great sound. Sure there's always something better out there, but nothing I have listened to on the Bose has ever sounded shite..

Just putting in my pennies worth,

Karl

i like the look of that Sony one altho since ive got the bose, i wouldnt need the speakers so would i be better just stickin with the denon?

is it hard to set up these receivers to get true 5.1 surround sound?

is there any kind of dummys guide to home cinema? lol

I got that TV :) I have got the Samsung HD950 DVD which is a upscaling DVD and has a output via HDMI.

So in a typical set up you can have - HDMI DVD player connected to the TV (or receiver) Xbox 360 connected via component to the TV - the DVD has digital coxial output and xbox has optical out that you use to connect to the reciver for digital 5.1 sound - and the TV has optical out so for things like freeview and stuff you can use the pro logic 2 setting - only SKYHD has digital 5.1 sound output for normal telly.
