any tomtom experts?

Car  a thirsty one
i am looking at getting a sat nav system as i have used tomtom before thats prob what im looking at, the question i have is.

i wont use it very much maybe once every month or so but the main reason i want one is that i am going on a driving holiday to america next year so i am wondering will the tomtom one gb version 2 with the sd card slot be able to accept a downloaded usa map? i figure you download the map onto your pc, then link it to the tomtom and load it onto the disc so i may need a new sd card for the usa maps but thats no problem.

any advice?

i want a cheap one really as its not going to get much use so im after the cheapest way of getting a usa map sat nav that i can use here every now and then.

Just recently got my GF a Navman s50 with traffic cradle for xmas. Not sure how good it is but i was majorly put off by the TomTom v3 lack of SD card slot.

my dad has a v2 and extra maps that seem to work really well. Just depends on if you can get them anymore. Ebay probs. also maps are avaialble in most good illegal places.
